Madeline Update
I'm sorry it's been so long, but these little people are tiring. Madeline is 6 weeks old tomorrow and she's doing great. Each of the last three nights, she has only woken up once. This means she goes to sleep between 11 and 12:30am and doesn't wake up until 3:30 or 4:30am and then goes back to sleep for a few hours. My, how quickly the bar gets lowered. She wouldn't sleep in her basinet or playyard, so we finally got a co-sleeper (a little hard-sided bed that sits in our bed) and for whatever reason it works. Renee and I sleep on either side and though warned against it, we love the thing!
As you can see from all the pictures, Madeline continues to grow. She eats like a champ and really chows down between 9 and midnight, which seems to help her sleep. She also likes to scream. At her one month appointment, our pediatrician said she had never heard a 4-week old scream that loud. Though I wasn't there, it made me proud ... that her mother had passed on such a dominant gene. She is going to be one independent, strong woman!
Over the last month I've gone back to work, my mom has come for a visit, and we've had lots and lots of people stop by with food and gifts. It has been really cool that many of our friends and neighbors have made the effort to bring a meal or just stop by to meet Maddy. One of our neighbors, Jeannie, is coming by to take Madeline for a couple hours this evening so that Renee and I can go grab a bite to eat. She is one beloved little girl and we are so fortunate to be surrounded by these friends.
I've also uploaded to Flickr a bunch of black and white pictures taken of Madeline by a photographer was she just a week old. She's so beautiful. Enjoy!
